What's Hot in H-town this Halloween?

Thanks to my wonderful 'forever the party planner' friend (who I will refer to as Wilky Wilkison), I have a little list of fun things to do this Halloween Evening. Daisy also wanted to make sure everyone saw her in her favorite super hero costume. However, she will be unable to attend any of the events below. Instead she will be vigilantly watching over the streets of Gotham, fighting crime, and occasionally taking pause to snack on her treat of choice; Godiva chocolate covered chicken fingers. Enjoy All Hallows Eve everyone!!!

  • Ernie's on Banks is having a costume party and supposedly opening up their brand new patio.

  • Local Montrose bars on Westhimer are hosting the second annual Halloween Pub Crawl. Prizes awarded to the best costumes start with a pub party for 99 of your closest friends with all-u-can-drink St.Arnolds: www.montrosecrawl.com

  • The Mezzanine lounge is hosting their Vampire Ball 2008. Possibility of $200 costume prize. Drinks $3.50 all night long.

  • The West Alabama Ice House is hosting Nightmare on Alabama Street: A costume contest, live music by Human and more than 50 lit pumpkins handcrafted by visitors the night before in a pumpkin-carving contest.

  • Kemah Pirate Dinner Cruise
    at
Star Fleet Entertainment Yachts, Kemah, TX
    $59* Adult October 31, 2008 8-10pm Cruise
Three hour cruise on Clear Lake and Galveston Bay featuring a DJ, a Caribbean themed buffet dinner, and a costume contest.

  • Fitzgerald's - The 1980's are the theme for this happening Halloween party at Fitzgerald's (2706 White Oak). The nightclub will feature a combination of live music and DJ sets with hit songs from the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s on the Main Stage. Then party at the Lounge Stage with Japanese comic action punk artists The Peelander-z. After the musical performance, The Cold Front will feature ice sculptures and chainsaws.

  • Discover Houston Ghost Walk Tours - Listen to ten tales of murder, death, haunting, hanging and war on this leisurely stroll and MetroRail ride. All are original haunts of Houston. 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays in October. $15 adult; $10 children. Advance reservations required.

Boo Mail

Just in time for Halloween! I have a soft spot for simple yet delightfully charming stationary. Check out the modern Houston stationer (yes that is a word, I looked it up) A Punkin Card Company. Not only do they have some adorable Halloween cards, but tons of other beauties as well. The owner, Amie Needham also has a kick ass blog that features Indie artists. Hooray for buying handmade!

It's Pouring

Isn't that the truth. Due to an incredibly chaotic week in the making, we will be taking a little blogging break. If I discover some free time, I might plop something down, but otherwise don't fret!! We'll be back soon!

If you get bored, go play Tumble Bees or Word Whomp. Two of the most addictive Internet games of all time.

Spend a Night in Hell

Get in the Halloween spirit with a little dose of Lucifer! Don't worry, this Hell is a lot more fun than the regular Hell. This hell has a lot of laughs, and most importantly, lots of booze.

It is Pendulum Theatre's staged reading of the original play To Hell with Dante. Six dead actors wandering around the different levels of Dante's Inferno. What would you do? They choose to get drunk, and you can get drunk with them! With wine glass in hand, you can go along on their journey and wittness the Gluttons, Hoarders, Wasters, and a cast of numerous other characters. You'll even get to meet Satan himself! C'mon, like you have anything better to do on a Tuesday night?

The world premiere of this original production be performed as a staged reading October 7th and 9th, 8:00pm at the Silver House Theatre located at 1107 Chartres.

For more info, visit the Pendulum Theatre Website

Cinnamon and Spice and Everything Nice

Take a look at this tasty little number by Modest Maven. It's their hand made Cinnamon Flare dress, and I think it's just perfect. I would totally want to drape a little pea coat shell or fitted sweater around it for day, and then add some extremely strappy and extremely high heels for the night on the town.

This spicy, and sizzling dress is also made of my favorite blend: 95% cotton with just enough lycra (5% for the mathematically challenged) to scare the wrinkles away. Can somebody please give me a reason why I shouldn't buy this dress? No seriously, that isn't a hypothetical. Anyone?

It's in the SAK

Look at this marvelously mod bag I spotted from Texas Beauties! It's handmade from canvas so it's super durable, and has three..that's right count them...three pockets inside as well as a zipper pouch. Plus, have I mentioned that pleats are WAAAY in this season? The printed cotton liner is also super adorable. I just want to fill it with my ipod, a good book, a bathing suit, and fly to an exotic beach for the weekend!
