CitySolve Urban Race February 18th!

For the third year in a row, our dear friends at Charity Chicks are partnering with one of the whackiest adventure races around - CitySolve Urban Race.

The costume-studded event takes place Saturday, February 18th from noon-5pm starting at Little Woodrow's Downtown.

Here's a run down of the jolly good time: Teams of two race around the city of Houston solving pop culture clues. The teams can get to the clue spots by either foot or public transportation - no bicycles, no rides from friends, no taxi cabs, no skateboards, etc. You've got feet, buses and metro - that's it.

Along the way there are wacky stunts, funniest tweet contests, costume contests, and other fun things. You can win money (hello...$5,000), a chance to attend the finals and race against the other 20 cities and the glory and bragging rights to be named Houston's CitySolve champs.

Entry is currently $50/person BUT not for our lovely readers:)

Use the code "chic" when you register, and receive the early registration discount of only $25/person.

A portion of the sales will also benefit The Joe Joe Bear Foundation.

Just for funzies, below you'll find a couple examples of last year's clues. Be sure check out the Citysolve website for more info.

Clue #1: Now I know my ABCs...A spontaneous good time awaits you at your next Checkpoint Challenge, along with the cast of Houston’s favorite improv troupe, Third Coast Comedy. Find them in a Houston park that borders 2 streets with surnames of the following Texas greats: 1. 1990’s Cowboys RB (boooo!); 2. Chuck Norris’ butt-kickin’ TV roll, also of the ‘90’s. HINT: The National Mall has one of these, but only bigger (guess not everything is bigger in Texas).

Answer #1: Intersection is Smith and Walker by the reflecting pool to find Houston's improvisational comedy troupe, Third Coast Comedy

Clue # 2: Don’t You Forget About Me… Possibly the best high school movie ever, this flick doesn’t star The Rat Pack, but famous teenagers whose group name rhymes with Sinatra’s. Think you got it figured out? Great! Now head to the establishment located on a street named for a famous William who lost his life at The Alamo.

Answer #2: The Breakfast Klub

Top Five Spring Fashion Trends by Tootsies

Fashion week always dishes out several fun looks to try and this spring, they are all easily wearable. Tootsies Store Manager Fady Armanious was kind enough to show us a few of the hottest trends for spring 2012:

Color Blocking in Shoes: Add color to your spring ensembles by incorporating a bright colored pump to your outfit. Armanious advises limiting to three colors to avoid a rainbow look.

Hawaiian: Bright floral and leaf prints have been given a revamp by the likes of Alexander Wang, Giambattista Valli and more.Lace/Crochet: This is a trend that will last through spring and summer 2012. Crochet can be the choice for all occasions. This once hippie-associated fad is now one of the top trends for any woman.

Poudre Colored Accessories: The dainty, faint pink color is the perfect addition to any ensemble and style.

1920's Feminine: Fringe, via flapper references or a bohemian vibe, will certainly make a big impression for spring. Another trend from the 20s is a loose yet classic look. A shift-type dress is flattering on anyone and easy to dress up or down.
